Description

Note: The final year in which second year Russian language classes (RUS 201; RUS 202; RUS 203) will be available in the PCC catalog is 2026-27.

Russian 201 will no longer be offered after fall term 2026.

All PCC Russian courses are taught using an immersion method. The objective of all Russian courses is to help students to develop communicative competence and proficiency in comprehension, speaking, reading and writing Russian as well as cultural awareness. Assessment is based on consistent attendance, active student participation, and written and oral assignments.

There are no requirements or prerequisites for entry into the first term of first year Russian. However, the student should read the Russian course descriptions for other Russian courses. Students who have studied the language before and are unsure of their placement are encouraged to consult with a Russian instructor for proper placement.

All students who enroll in Russian classes (including those on the waiting list) are expected to attend class the first day when material essential for successful completion of the course will be presented. Students who do not attend the first class session may be replaced by those who do attend.
