Covers principles of permaculture for both urban & rural applications and sustainable human settlements. Covers landscape analysis, ecological planning & design methods, organic food production, food security, natural soil improvement, integrated animal systems, water harvesting, conservation and management, forest gardening, techniques and design strategies. HOR 290. Introduction to Landscape Design. 3 Credits.

Covers basic steps and elements used in landscape design. Establishes specific design criteria, field measurements and basic drawing techniques required in production of finished design. Audit available.

HOR 291. Landscape Design III. 3 Credits.

Covers the design process. Explores design problems and challenges through projects. Includes developing a final design and the use of hardscapes, lighting and materials in landscape design. Introduces architectural styles and themes as influences in landscape design. Recommended: A total of 9 credits of HOR 226, HOR 227, HOR 228, HOR 255, HOR 272, or LAT 262.
