Introduces the normal appearance of anatomical structures associated with vascular and cardiovascular interventional procedures. Prerequisites: Acceptance into the VIR program or department permission.
VIR 102. Supplies and Sterile Technique. 1 Credit.
Introduces fundamental supplies used in interventional cardiac and radiology procedures. Covers foundational information and data to ensure proper sterile technique associated with procedures. Prerequisites: Acceptance into the VIR program or department permission.
VIR 103. Patient Care and Assessment. 2 Credits.
Introduces foundational concepts associated with patient care, assessment, and patient monitoring. Prerequisites: Acceptance into the VIR program or department permission.
VIR 104. Imaging Equipment and Radiation Safety. 1 Credit.
Introduces imaging systems used in Catheterization Labs and the associated materials for radiation safety and protection. Prerequisites: Acceptance into the VIR program or department permission.
VIR 105. Physiological Monitoring & Recording. 1 Credit.
Introduces monitoring systems used in the Catheterization Lab setting with their basic use and functions. Prerequisites: VIR 101 and VIR 102 and VIR 103 and VIR 104 or department permission.
VIR 106. Pharmacology. 2 Credits.
Covers commonly used pharmaceuticals in a Catheterization Lab. Prerequisites: VIR 105 and VIR 121 and VIR 271 or department permission.
VIR 107. Fundamentals of Ultrasound and CT. 1 Credit.
Covers fundamentals of and use of Ultrasound and CT imaging in a Catheterization Lab. Prerequisites: VIR 105 and VIR 121 and VIR 271 or department permission.
VIR 121. Vascular Procedures I. 2 Credits.
Introduces commonly performed diagnostic procedures within a Catheterization Lab. Prerequisites: VIR 101 and VIR 102 and VIR 103 and VIR 104 or department permission.
VIR 122. Vascular Procedures II. 2 Credits.
Covers the anatomical indicators for cardiac and interventional procedures. Prerequisites: VIR 105 and VIR 121 and VIR 271 or department permission.
VIR 123. Vascular Procedures III. 2 Credits.
Covers the identification of disease processes and their treatments in a Catheterization Lab. Prerequisites: VIR 106 and VIR 107 and VIR 122 and VIR 272 or department permission.
VIR 131. Registry Review. 1 Credit.
Provides a comprehensive review of patient care, imaging procedures and vascular anatomy for Catheterization Lab imaging. Prerequisites: VIR 106 and VIR 107 and VIR 122 and VIR 272 or department permission.
VIR 271. VIR Clinic I. 8 Credits.
Provides clinical education experience in an affiliated hospital Catheterization Lab department under the supervision of a Registered Technologist and Radiologist. Includes application of equipment manipulation and operation, VIR imaging procedures, VIR safety, medicolegal and ethical protocols, record keeping and patient care. Prerequisites: VIR 101 and VIR 102 and VIR 103 and VIR 104 or department permission.
VIR 272. VIR Clinic II. 8 Credits.
Provides intermediate clinical education experience in an affiliated hospital Catheterization Lab department under the supervision of a Registered Technologist and Radiologist. Includes application of equipment manipulation and operation, imaging procedures, safety, medicolegal and ethical protocols, record keeping and patient care. Prerequisites: VIR 105 and VIR 121 and VIR 271 or department permission.
VIR 273. VIR Clinic III. 8 Credits.
Provides advanced clinical education experience in an affiliated hospital Catheterization Lab department under the supervision of a Registered Technologist and Radiologist. Includes application of equipment manipulation and operation, understanding and application of imaging parameters, safety, medicolegal and ethical protocols, record keeping and patient care. Prerequisites: VIR 106 and VIR 107 and VIR 122 and VIR 272 or department permission.
